Four Tamil Nadu Districts Appended to PM-DDKY

The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation have joined forces to launch the Mission for Advancement in High-Impact Areas (MAHA) - Medical Technology (Med-Tech).

INS Sutlej Concludes Extensive Hydrographic Mission in Mauritius
The Indian Navy's hydrographic survey ship, INS Sutlej, completed its 18th joint hydrographic survey mission in partnership with the Mauritius Hydrographic Service.

Passing of Burn Care Pioneer Prof. K. Mathangi Ramakrishnan
Renowned plastic and reconstructive surgeon Prof. Karimpat (K.) Mathangi Ramakrishnan passed away in Chennai at the age of 91.
- Legacy: Recognized as the foundational pioneer of organized burn care in South India, she established the dedicated plastic surgery department and specialized burns wing at the Government Kilpauk Medical College (KMC), Chennai.
- Inventions & Laurels: In a joint project with the Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI), she pioneered a specialized collagen membrane to serve as a biological cover for severe burn wounds. She was decorated with the Padma Shri in 2002, the Dr. B.C. Roy National Award, the state's Avvaiyar Award (2014), and the prestigious G. Whitaker International Burns Prize (2009) in Italy.

Infantry Day 2025: October 27
The Indian Army observed its 79th Infantry Day and celebrated Shaurya Diwas to pay tribute to the core frontline foot soldiers.
- History: On October 27, 1947, the 1st Battalion of the Sikh Regiment, under the leadership of Lt. Col. Dewan Ranjit Rai, executed a historic airborne landing at Srinagar Airfield.
