Overview of Bharat Tribes Fest 2026 Held in New Delhi

The Bharat Tribes Fest (BTF 2026), a national celebration of tribal culture, craftsmanship, and entrepreneurship, was held from March 18 to April 5, 2026, at Sunder Nursery, New Delhi.

Organiser: The 19-day event was organized by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA) in association with the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED).
Opening Ceremony: Inaugurated by Union Minister Jual Oram (MoTA), in the presence of Dao Ngoc Dung, Minister of Ethnic and Religious Affairs, and Y. Thong, Vice Minister of Ethnic and Religious Affairs from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Launch: Union Minister Jual Oram launched 'RISA: Timeless Tribal', an exclusive signature brand dedicated to tribal weaves and crafts. In the first phase, the project features 10 clusters covering 5 tribal weaves, 2 embroideries, and 3 crafts.
Awards: Top-performing tribal artisans and sellers were honoured across 10 categories including Pottery, Cane & Bamboo, Jewellery, Cuisines, Gifts & Assortments, Metal, Naturals, Paintings, Textiles, and VDVKs.
Outcome: The festival witnessed participation of over 1.50 lakh visitors and generated Rs 4.5 crore in sales.

MIB Notifies TV Rating Policy 2026 to Enhance Transparency, Accountability & Credibility

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) notified the 'Television (TV) Rating Policy (TRP 2026)', replacing the existing 2014 guidelines governing audience measurement in India.

Key Reforms in TRP Guidelines 2026:

Governance Norms	At least 50% of the Board must be independent directors with no links to broadcasters or advertisers; consultancy roles prohibited to prevent conflicts of interest

Sample Size	TV rating agencies required to scale up to 80,000 metered homes within 18 months (6 months for existing agencies), with a long-term goal of 1.20 lakh homes

Union MoS Dr. Jitendra Singh Launches First-Ever 'Administrative Capacity Building' Programme for Scientists & Academicians

Union Minister of State (IC) Dr. Jitendra Singh, Ministry of Science and Technology (MoS&T), launched the first-ever dedicated programme on 'Administrative Capacity Building for Scientists and Academicians' under Mission Karmayogi, during a special session of 'SADHANA Saptah' held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

Aim: To equip scientists and academic leaders with governance skills and decision-making capabilities.
Key Initiatives Launched:
Revamped Unified New-Age National Training Institutions (UNNATI) portal to bolster institutional capacity-building ecosystems.
Roadmap for the national rollout of the Karmayogi Kartavya Karyakram.
MoU Signed: Between the Capacity Building Commission (CBC) and the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) to foster global knowledge partnerships in areas such as AI, digital governance, and public sector innovation.

Russia's First Deputy PM Denis Manturov Visits India to Co-chair IRIGC-TEC

Denis Manturov, First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, was on a two-day official visit to India from April 2 to 3, 2026, aimed at bolstering bilateral relations across key sectors.

IRIGC-TEC: He co-chaired the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC) along with Union Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar (MEA) in New Delhi. The IRIGC-TEC serves as a key institutional mechanism to review and advance strategic economic ties between the two countries.
Bilateral Meeting: Both leaders discussed cooperation in trade, industry, energy, fertilizers, connectivity, mobility, and emerging areas like technology, innovation, and critical minerals. They also reviewed the progress on outcomes of the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit held in December 2025.

NITI Aayog's AIM Launches ATL Sarthi & Mentor India Academy in Telangana

The National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog)'s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) launched two new initiatives — Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) Sarthi and Mentor India Academy — at Vardhaman College of Engineering in Hyderabad, Telangana.

These initiatives, in line with PM Narendra Modi's vision of 'Viksit Bharat 2047', aim to nurture innovation from the school level.

ATL Sarthi: A comprehensive capacity-building programme for ATL in-charges and educators.
Mentor India Academy: An advanced training platform for mentors under AIM's Mentor India initiative.
Scope: The initiative will offer structured mentorship and institutional support to 379 ATLs in Telangana.
Regional Clusters: ATLs will be grouped into regional clusters, each supported by a nodal institution. NITI Aayog has designated Vardhaman College of Engineering as the nodal institution for the state, providing technical assistance, mentorship, teacher training, and support for incubation and entrepreneurship.

Moody's Lowers India's FY27 GDP Growth Forecast to 6% Amid West Asia Conflict

American rating agency Moody's Ratings released its latest 'Credit Opinion Report on India', lowering India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth forecast for FY 2026-27 by 80 basis points to 6%, down from its earlier estimate of 6.8%.

Procam International, a sports management company in India, announced that Croatian high jumper and double Olympic medallist Blanka Vlasic has been appointed as the International Event Ambassador for the 18th edition of the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) World 10K Bengaluru.

The event, a World Athletics Gold Label race, is scheduled for 26 April 2026 in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Former CBI Director R.K. Raghavan's Autobiography 'A Road Well Travelled' Released

Businessman R.T. Chari released the updated edition of the autobiography 'A Road Well Travelled', authored by former Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director Raghava Krishnaswami (R.K.) Raghavan, at a formal event in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The first copy was received by Nandini Azad, President of the Indian Cooperative Network for Women (ICNW). Originally published by Westland Publications in 2020, the book was reissued by Creative Workshop.

Overview: The updated autobiography traces his career from the Indian Police Service (IPS) state cadre through the Intelligence Bureau (IB) to serving as Director of the CBI.
Assassination: The book begins with the 1991 assassination of former PM Rajiv Gandhi at Sriperumbudur, where he was part of the security team, and cites the withdrawal of Special Protection Group (SPG) cover as a key factor.
