Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia Launches ₹175 Crore Mission 'Coffee of Nagaland'
Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), virtually launched the ₹175 crore 'Coffee of Nagaland' mission at Sanchar Bhavan, New Delhi, to promote coffee cultivation, strengthen farmers' livelihoods, and position Nagaland as a premium coffee-producing state in India.
Focus: Plantation development, processing, branding, marketing, export promotion, capacity building, and coffee tourism through farm stays and farm-to-cup experiences.
Cluster-Based Approach — Two Pilot Coffee Clusters:

NIOS Launches Initiative to Reconnect Out-of-School Children with Education Under NEP 2020
Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), under the Ministry of Education (MoE), held a high-level review meeting on out-of-school children, especially in the 14–18 age group, and discussed the implementation of a new initiative by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).
The mission — "To Reach the Unreached" — aims to reconnect out-of-school children with the formal education system, advancing the goals of National Education Policy 2020 and the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
PLFS Data: Out of every 100 children entering Class I, only 62 reach Class XII. Over two crore children aged 14–18 are currently out of school.
Mission Mode Strategy — Phase I: To be implemented in 10 pilot districts identified across Odisha, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi, where a high number of out-of-school children have been found.
Union Minister Rajnath Singh Lays Foundation for AMCA Programme Facility in AP
Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Ministry of Defence (MoD), along with N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister (CM) of Andhra Pradesh (AP), laid the foundation for the ~₹15,000 crore Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme facility at Puttaparthi in Sri Sathya Sai district, AP.
He also laid the foundation stone for the ₹2,000 crore Core Integration and Flight Testing Centre at Puttaparthi to fast-track development of the 5th generation AMCA and other future indigenous platforms.
AMCA Programme: India's indigenous 5th-generation, twin-engine stealth multirole fighter programme, designed specifically for the Indian Air Force (IAF) and Indian Navy (IN). The facility is being established by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) under DRDO.

RBI Amends Directions on IFR for Various Bank Categories
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued final amendment directions revising the regulatory framework relating to Investment Fluctuation Reserve (IFR) applicable to various categories of banks and regulated entities.
Investment Fluctuation Reserve (IFR): A reserve created by banks out of profits to absorb losses from mark-to-market (MTM) valuation changes in investments, especially in government securities — an additional buffer against depreciation in investment portfolios.
IFR Discontinuation: The requirement of IFR has been discontinued with effect from May 18, 2026.
Reason: The RBI removed the IFR requirement because the existing capital and risk management norms already provide adequate protection against investment risks.
RBI Imposes Regulatory Restrictions on Nagar Sahakari Bank; Caps Withdrawals at ₹10,000
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed several regulatory restrictions on Etawah (Uttar Pradesh)-based co-operative bank, Nagar Sahakari Bank Limited, due to deteriorating financial conditions and supervisory concerns.
The directions were issued under the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, and will remain effective for a specified period, subject to review.

Google & Blackstone Launch USD 5 Billion AI Cloud Venture with TPU Infrastructure
Google LLC and Blackstone Inc., the world's largest alternative asset manager, announced a joint venture (JV) to establish an AI cloud infrastructure company with Blackstone committing an initial USD 5 billion equity investment.
Benjamin Treynor Sloss was appointed CEO of the venture, targeting 500 megawatts (MW) capacity online by 2027.
Features: AI data centre infrastructure, networking, operational services, and advanced AI model training and inference workloads. Google supplies TPU hardware, software, and AI-related services.
Expansion: Aims to expand access to Google's custom-built TPU chips and compete with Nvidia-backed firms such as CoreWeave. Blackstone continues expanding global investments in AI infrastructure through investments in OpenAI, Anthropic, and CoreWeave.
About TPUs: Google-developed AI accelerator chips optimized for large-scale AI processing and high-performance computing, powering Gemini AI and cloud-based AI services.

V. D. Satheesan Takes Oath as CM of Kerala
Vadasseri Damodara Menon Satheesan (V. D. Satheesan), representing the Paravur Assembly constituency in Kerala, was sworn in as the 13th Chief Minister (CM) of Kerala at Central Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram, along with a 20-member cabinet, following the victory of the United Democratic Front (UDF) in the Kerala Assembly Elections 2026.
The oath was administered by Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Governor of Kerala. He succeeded Pinarayi Vijayan, who served as CM from May 2016 to May 2026.

Saurabh Vijay Assumes Charge as CEO of UIDAI
Saurabh Vijay officially assumed charge as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the nodal agency responsible for Aadhaar operations under MeitY.
He succeeded Vivek Chandra Verma, Deputy Director General of UIDAI, who held additional charge as CEO since April 2026, following the elevation of former CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar as Secretary of the Department of Tourism (DoT) under the Ministry of Tourism (MoT).
