The PM Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi), a micro-credit scheme launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoH&UA), completed 6 years of empowering street vendors.

Event: Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, MoH&UA, and CM Manik Saha, Tripura, engaged with PM SVANidhi beneficiaries from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. They also distributed credit cards and loan sanction letters to street vendors from Tripura.

Sikkim Declared Fully Literate State: Sikkim has been officially declared a fully literate state under the MoE's flagship initiative Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society (ULLAS), becoming the 5th state (after Mizoram, Goa, Tripura, and HP) and 3rd North-East (NE) state in India to achieve this feat.

President's Police Colour: President Murmu presented the prestigious President's Police Colour to the Sikkim Police at Palzor Stadium, Gangtok, in recognition of its distinguished service.

India Signs USD 629 Million BrahMos Missile Export Deal with Vietnam to Strengthen Defence Cooperation

The Government of India (GoI) signed a BrahMos missile export agreement with Vietnam worth approximately ₹60 billion (USD 629 million), further strengthening bilateral defence and strategic cooperation.

Announced by Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, MoD, at the Shangri-La Dialogue, an annual security summit organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), held in Singapore.

Contract: Covers supply of missile systems, along with training and logistical support.

Export Milestone: Vietnam has become the second overseas buyer of the BrahMos missile system, following the Philippines (first foreign customer — USD 375 million deal in 2022).

Other Deal: Negotiations between India and Indonesia for the acquisition of BrahMos are in the final stages, with Indonesia having finalized plans in March 2026 to procure one battery for coastal defence.

Union MoS Dr. Jitendra Singh Launches AI-Enabled CPGRAMS Voice Chatbot 'Samadhan Didi'

Union MoS (IC) Dr. Jitendra Singh, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions (MoPPG&P), launched the 1st-of-its-kind initiative 'Samadhan Didi', an AI-enabled voice chatbot for the Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS), at Kartavya Bhawan, New Delhi, Delhi.

Developed By: DARPG, MoPP&P, in partnership with BHASHINI.

Multi-lingual Chatbot: Supports all 22 Indian languages recognised under the 8th Schedule of the Constitution and other regional and indigenous languages (Bhojpuri, Garo, Khasi, Mizo, and Bodhi).

Key Role of BHASHINI: Combines BHASHINI's language capabilities with grievance-classification models on CPGRAMS data.

Automatic Categorisation: Citizens register complaints by speaking in their own language; AI understands the issue, asks follow-up questions, and automatically identifies the appropriate Ministry, Department, category, sub-category, and files the grievance with the correct authority.

Union Minister Manohar Lal Launches 'Swachh Mobile App' in West Bengal

Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, MoHUA, launched 'Swachh App', a geo-tagged mobile app for cleanliness in municipal areas, in Kolkata, West Bengal (WB), in the presence of CM Suvendu Adhikari.

Purpose: Enables citizens to upload photos of issues such as stagnant water, garbage, or drainage problems and send them to the municipality for action.

Implementation — Initial Phase: Launched for 10 municipalities — Asansol, Durgapur, Baidyabati, Basirhat, Contai, Nalhati, Krishnanagar, Madhyamgram, Tufangunge, and Pujali. Plans to expand to 120 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

Categories: Over 18 complaint categories — from dead animals and uncleared dustbins to unwashed public toilets.

ArcelorMittal Nippon Secures NSC Approval for SIP for Visakhapatnam ITI Cluster Under PM-SETU

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) along with academic partner New Age Makers Institute of Technology (NAMTECH) secured the National Steering Committee (NSC) approval for ₹200.21 crore Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) for the Visakhapatnam Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Cluster in Andhra Pradesh (AP).

This marks the first-ever SIP approval granted under the Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU) scheme.

3rd NSC Meeting: Chaired by Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary of MSDE, at Kaushal Bhawan, New Delhi.

Significance: AP becomes the 1st state to onboard an Anchor Industry Partner (AIP) under PM-SETU. The proposed Visakhapatnam cluster is expected to serve as a national model.

PM-SETU: A flagship initiative of MSDE launched by PM Modi in October 2025 with a total budget outlay of ₹60,000 crore, designed to transform 1,000 Government ITIs through an industry-led "Hub-and-Spoke" model.

The three member nations of the AUKUS security alliance — USA, UK, and Australia — launched a joint underwater drone programme under 'AUKUS Alliance Pillar Two' to co-develop advanced Uncrewed Undersea Vehicles (UUVs).

Announced by Australian Defence Minister Richard Marles, USA Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, and UK Defence Secretary John Healey on the sidelines of the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore.

Objective: Develop a suite of highly adaptable, multi-mission UUV payloads to support undersea operations. First delivery expected by 2027.

Focus: Collaboration in quantum computing, advanced defence technologies such as long-range hypersonic weapons, undersea robotics, and AI.

AUKUS: Established in 2021; trilateral defence partnership focused on nuclear-powered submarines, advanced military technologies, and underwater drone systems to strengthen maritime security.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), MoD, successfully conducted a high-calibre conventional bomb trial at the Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL), Ramgarh Range, Panchkula, Haryana.

Validation: Conducted in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the supervision of senior Indian Air Force (IAF) officials and DRDO scientists, to validate advanced munitions and defence capabilities.

Deployment: This high-calibre bomb was designed to serve as a warhead for IAF missiles and other air-dropped munitions.

Veteran Singer and Padma Bhushan Awardee Suman Kalyanpur Passes Away

Veteran Indian playback singer and Padma Bhushan awardee Suman Kalyanpur passed away at the age of 89 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She was born as Suman Hemmady on January 28, 1937, in Dhaka, Bengal Presidency, British India (present-day Dhaka, Bangladesh).

Awarded the Padma Bhushan (India's 3rd highest civilian honour) in January 2023 in the field of 'Arts'.

Musical Legacy: One of India's most celebrated playback singers, renowned for her melodious voice and contributions to Hindi, Marathi, and several regional film industries.

Career: Began playback singing in 1954 with films such as Shukrachi Chandini and Mangu. Rose to prominence during the 1950s and 1960s; gained widespread recognition for soulful songs and memorable duets with legendary singer Mohammed Rafi.

Contribution: Over a career spanning more than six decades, she recorded thousands of songs and collaborated with many of Indian cinema's most renowned composers and singers.
