FATF Report on India: Significance and Observations


Following an on-site assessment in November 2023, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recently published its Mutual Evaluation Report on India. In 2020, India became a member of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). It was assigned to the “regular follow-up” category, which is considered favorable in light of previous objections from certain industrialized countries. The FATF identified critical areas for development, such as the prosecution of money laundering (ML) and terror financing (TF) cases, the safeguarding of the non-profit sector from terrorist abuse, and the implementation of preventive measures.

International News India and Bhutan Strengthen Their Collaboration on Regulatory Standards and Food Safety


At the Global Food Regulators Summit in Bharat Mandapam, the Bhutan Food and Drug Authority (BFDA) and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), which is under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, engaged in a bilateral meeting. The meeting was centered on the implementation of the “Agreement” that was signed on March 21, 2024, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bhutan. The Agreement is designed to improve food safety, expedite food import procedures, align regulatory frameworks, and promote technical cooperation between the two countries. It also aims to secure mutual recognition of the BFDA’s authority over Bhutanese food business operators (FBOs) by the FSSAI.
