Khel Utsav 2024 Coordinated by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting
In commemoration of the birth anniversary of Hockey Legend Major Dhyan Chand and in conjunction with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports’ National Sports Day 2024, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting conducted “Khel Utsav 2024” from August 27 to August 30, 2024. The event was held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in New Delhi.

Southeast Asia has been significantly disrupted by Super Typhoon Yagi, the most powerful typhoon to strike Asia in more than a decade. The typhoon caused widespread devastation and mass evacuations in southern China’s Hainan province after it devastated the northern Philippines. It is anticipated that Yagi will continue its trajectory toward Vietnam and Laos, causing severe weather conditions in the northern regions.
India-France Bilateral Naval Exercise Varuna
Varuna-23, the 21st iteration of the naval exercise between the Indian and French Navies, was conducted in 2023 in two phases. Bilateral Naval Exercise Between India and France Varuna is a critical strategic exercise that was implemented in 1993 and renamed “Varuna” in 2001. Joint operations utilizing guided missile frigates, transports, Maritime Patrol Aircraft, and helicopters were conducted in the Arabian Sea during Phase II. The objective of the exercise was to strengthen interoperability, promote security, and enhance warfighting skills in the region. The initial segment took place from January 16-20, 2023, off the Western Seaboard of India.
