1. Urban Flood Management Projects Approval by High-Level Committee:
   • The High-Level Committee, in its recent meeting, approved six project proposals in Telangana, Gujarat, Karnataka, West Bengal, and Maharashtra. These projects, with a total cost of Rs. 2514.36 crore, aim to enhance urban flood management in six metro cities: Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Pune. Notably, the HLC had previously approved an integrated flood management project for Tamil Nadu in Chennai city on November 27, 2023, for Rs. 561.29 crore.
2. Setting Up of PM MITRA Parks for Textile Industry:
   • The Government has given the green light to establish seven PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Parks. These parks, located in Greenfield and Brownfield sites (including a Greenfield project in Virudhanagar, Tamil Nadu), will feature world-class infrastructure, including plug-and-play facilities. The outlay for this initiative is Rs. 4,445 crore for seven years until 2027-28.
3. Inscription of Assam’s Ahom Dynasty Moidams on UNESCO World Heritage List:
   • Assam’s Ahom dynasty Moidams have officially been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, marking India’s 43rd entry. This historic announcement was made during the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee in New Delhi on July 26, 2024. The Moidams are the first cultural property from Northeast India to receive this prestigious honor. The nomination was submitted on July 4, 2024, highlighting global recognition of Assam’s unique cultural heritage.
4. Development of India’s First Integrated Agricultural Export Facility at JN Port:
   • The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) is set to create India’s first integrated agricultural export facility at Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Mumbai. Approved by Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, the project is valued at Rs. 284.19 crore and will cover an area of 67,422 square meters. This state-of-the-art facility aims to streamline logistics, reduce handling, and extend the shelf life of agricultural products, thereby enhancing India’s agricultural export capacity.
5. Shekhar Kapur Appointed Festival Director for IFFI:
   • Veteran filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, known for iconic films such as “Mr. India,” “Bandit Queen,” and “Elizabeth,” has been appointed as the festival director for the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). He will lead the festival, held annually in Goa, for the 55th and 56th editions, as announced by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.
6. Commemorative Stamp for Kargil Vijay Diwas Silver Jubilee:
   • The Department of Posts has issued a commemorative postage stamp in Dras, Kargil (Ladakh), marking the Silver Jubilee of Kargil Vijay Diwas. This special edition celebrates the 25th anniversary of India’s victory in the Kargil War, honoring the exceptional bravery, determination, and sacrifice of the armed forces.
7. UltraTech Cement’s Acquisition of India Cements Stake:
   • UltraTech Cement, a flagship of the Aditya Birla Group, will acquire a 32.72% equity stake in India Cements for ₹3,945 crore. The acquisition, subject to regulatory approvals, will be finalized through a Share Purchase Agreement with India Cements’ promoters, led by N. Srinivasan. UltraTech plans to make an open offer to India Cements shareholders at ₹390 per share.
