The Government of India has officially cleared the Nutrient-Based Subsidy (NBS) rates for Phosphatic and Potassic (P&K) fertilizers for the Rabi 2025–26 season, effective through March 31, 2026.
- Financial Allocation: The government has earmarked a tentative budget of Rs 37,952.29 crore for this season, representing an increase of approximately Rs 736 crore over the previous Kharif 2025 allocation.

- Key Fertilizer Payouts: To shield farmers from volatile international markets, the Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) subsidy has been raised significantly to Rs 29,805 per metric tonne (MT), up from Rs 21,911 in the previous Rabi season. Additionally, Muriate of Potash (MOP) is subsidized at Rs 1,428 per MT, and Single Super Principle (SSP) at Rs 7,408 per MT.
- Fortification Incentives: Manufacturers adding essential micronutrients will receive additional incentives of Rs 300 per MT for Boron-fortified fertilizers and Rs 500 per MT for Zinc-coated variants under the Fertilizer Control Order.
- Growth Markers: Driven by these strategic policies, domestic P&K production surged by over 50% from 112.19 Lakh Metric Tonnes (LMT) in 2014 to 168.55 LMT by late 2025. Concurrently, national foodgrain productivity expanded from 1,930 kg per hectare in 2010–11 to 2,578 kg per hectare in 2024–25.
